Lazy Girl Blog

On Vacation
We're on vacation in Orient, New York. We rented a house out here at the end of the North Fork of Long Island for the month of August. Our house is about 100 feet from Peconic Bay and has big windows to look out of. You can sit for hours mesmerized by the sound of the water and waves.
I am calling this a Lazy Girl Blog because I don't want to work very hard out here. But I already have worked very hard. There was shopping to do, unpacking and organizing. I had to organize everything so I could deal with it day in and day out. It's not that the owners are slobs, it's just that they are typically unorganized. Take the silverware drawer. Quelle horreur!

Different types of utensils were mixed together. Plastic forks were in the drawers. There were a lot of steak knives. (We do not eat steak.) The plastic bins were dirty.

Ah. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief.
Except my next job is the linen closet.
This very good Merlot is what I needed
after our first day in Orient.
Richard eating Latham's corn. P.S. he loves it.
I made a stir fry for dinner.
I cook plain.
My stepdaughter will arrive
bearing a bottle of Mrs. Dash's seasoning.
She's trying to convert me.
Today's lunch at Claudio's dock in Greenport.
Little neck clams on the half shell.
Roses and Hydrangeas in a Greenport yard.
Alice's Fish Market.
Open these cases and they'll cut off your hand with a fish knife.
 How I keep my hats.
We can see this lighthouse from our window.
Claudio's deck for lunch today.

See you tomorrow.
Yes, I am going to post every day.
Or try to.
